Discharged from Hospital This Evening

It's been quite a ride... Landon was released sometime between 4-5:30pm - since it is the other grandparent's visitation time, he went home with them. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll have any other info until Friday when we get him back. I didn't even know he'd been discharged until I called at 5:30pm to see if the Dr. had been back to check on him. I had asked them to call me. They were already headed home. Kind of frustrating, that. I'll have to assume that no news is good news.

I was there until about 2pm today - we had expected him to be released this morning, but the Dr was concerned because his breathing was still a bit fast and shallow and so wanted him to stay a bit longer and said that she'd come back by later in the day to see how he was.

Landon sure was ready to go - he had had enough of hospitals! He did get a special visit from some of the Dallas Cowboys and one of the cheerleaders. It is nice that they take the time to visit the children. Landon will be proud of the pictures and autographs one day, I am sure - but at the time he was still pretty wary of anyone he didn't know that came into his hospital room.

Of special note, I want to thank Nurse Audra for her care of Landon - everyone was great, but she stood out, as did Amy at Baylor ER... And the people I work for and with, it sure helps having supportive employers and colleagues.

And you guys here... Thanks for the verbal hand-holding and prayers :-)

Well not so nice of them not to call IMHO. Seems like a courtesy call would not be too much to ask... but I am sure he is happy to be out of the hospital and back in a familiar setting. It is great news that he is well enough to be discharged... and I bet he will be even more happy to be HOME soon ;)

Is it just me or do these other grandparents seem slightly insensitive? I'm glad Landon will be home on Friday.

Midnitefyrfly is absolutely correct. A courtesy call is not too much to ask, especially after he said he would call you. But then this is what we've come to expect from this cretin. After all, he lied on the original affidavit he filed, which, in this state, is still a felony offense. Never trust a snake.

A casual reader may think this is a small complaint, maybe he got busy taking care of the baby, blah blah blah. However, this is a pattern of behavior on his part. They simply do not communicate with us, and when he does it's with a lie or a broken promise. We kept them informed at every step of this ordeal, because we felt it the right thing to do. He's done little but lie, obfuscate and avoid the truth since before L was born.

I feel like the Burl Ives character of Big Daddy in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof: What's that smell? Didn't you notice it, Brick? Didn't you notice the powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity?

He is so cute, makes me want to hug him. I miss hugging little ones.

Good news to hear he's out of the hospital. I hope he continues to get stronger each day.

How cool about the Cowboys and Cowgirl (he will definitely enjoy showing off those autographs someday!)

Nurses are my heroes. Am amazing vocation.

I'm always glad to hear when someone has a compassionate experience. I think everyone pulls together to take extra time with the littlest patients. And who would not be won over by Gentleman Landon.

God bless you and your family, I know your Christmas starts when Landon gets home.
