Short respite

I highly recommend taking a break, even a small one :-)

Baby is with other grandparents, and husband and I both took time from work to have a long weekend - and took a road trip - Left Friday, back Saturday. In our case, the where wasn't so important - just the fact that the two of us got away, alone. Very nice. Highly recommended.

Oh, how I understand that. We forget to focus on our relationship when we allow the addict to take over our joy. Wishing you a wonderful rest and reconnecting with your own self.

Yes, a break. The problem with me and my husband was that everywhere we went, our minds went with us. So-I recommend leaving behind your minds.

Yes, a geographical and mental escape is so important for our own health and well being and also the well being of our marriage. Glad you could get away and have some much deserved alone time together.

Wow, your situation is very similar to mine. It's bad enough you lose a child to drug addiction, but even worse when they have children.
My daughter has two children. One child is with her ex, thank god. The other is with her and her boyfriend. Both of drug users. She has cut my husband and I off from seeing the baby that is with them because we will not accept the drug addicted lifestyle the live. Need I say more?
When she gets unsupervised visitation with her first son she said she will cut us off from seeing him too. It is mind boggling how this drug can make a child abandon family and even there own children. Do you know of any parent support groups on Long Island?

That sounds great. Nothing like a little geographic cure--I highly recommend them.

I have to agree. Sometimes time away is all that's needed.
